Make sure your computer is fully up-to-date with no viruses.

Verify you are using a stable internet connection.
High-speed, private internet is preferred (Such as ISU, or your home.) Dial-up, public and cell phone hotspot connections are slower or unstable and can cause problems. If you are unsure about your internet connection, visit this website to learn more: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/networking/how-to-check-on-your-internet-connection/1527.

p

Close all unnecessary applications.
Programs running in the background can cause issues. Close all chat programs, extra browsers and tabs, as well as anything which can “pop up.”

Check your power.
If you are using a laptop, plug it in. If you have a wireless keyboard or mouse, make sure they are fully charged.

Launch RESPONDUS LOCKDOWN BROWSER to access Blackboard and your test.
Do NOT go directly to Blackboard through as standard browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. You will not be able to access your test this way. First open the Lockdown Browser, then navigate to your exam.

Save your work.
While you are taking the test, verify that Blackboard is saving your answers by clicking the “Save” button regularly. When you finish the quiz, make sure you click the “SUBMIT” button or your answers will not be counted/recorded.

Keep track of time.
If it’s a timed test, do NOT go overtime. You will see the timer at the top of quiz screen. Get in the habit of checking your time.
